This is a really interesting way to show Frodo's thoughts about his loss. Obviously his diary is important to him, as he has carried it with him to Buckland, and he has made an entry on the day of their deaths. His entries are usually very short though, which makes me wonder if, prior to his parent's deaths, he wrote long, descriptive entries then lost heart. I loved the way he found solace in his books, knowing that they wouldn't hurt or desert him. There are some typos but it is a child's journal, and could be part of the text. There were some Americanism's that were distracting, but overall I felt that the thoughts were well done.

A very melancholy recounting of the first few weeks after Frodo lost his parents. His confusion, anger and pain are very clear, as well as the fruitless efforts Saradoc and Esmeralda are making to help him.
