It's always enjoyable to share a humorous moment with the Fellowship! I like this one especially because it shows us Merry and Pippin finding something fun to contemplate, even in the midst of the dangerous trek through the snow. The reactions to their snickering by the members of the Fellowship are fun to see, but it is especially nice to be treated to a full range of Boromir's reactions here. He goes from being testy and irritated over Hobbit giggling, to embarrassed at being compared to Legolas -- unfavorably, if you count being able to walk on snow as being preferrable. Then suddenly, he is playful, doing something that totally flummoxes some members of the Fellowship! Finally, Boromir comforts the one he just rather made fun of, and lets him know that walking on snow is really a much better quality than being able to make snow angels... I mean, snow balrogs! I really wonder if Legolas took the opportunity at some point to secretly test the theory that Elves can't make such marks in the snow!

Ha! This is very funny and probably something I'm sure only Pippin would notice :) I'm sure I would be as snarky as Boromir if someone kept laughing behind me then shutting up when I turned round. I love it when Boromir makes his 'snow balrog', ah, if only he knew what was up ahead. I also like Pippin's opinion of Gimli's snow tracks, how they look like a plow going through the snow. All in all I think this is a lovely little ficlet and it really made me smile. Your characters are very real and there is much depth to them even though your story is short.

-- Bless you and thank you. I had a delightful time writing this one. A smile kept breaking.

An amusing vignette about the Fellowship, focusing on a certain hobbit's irrepressible observations as they trek through the snow. Pippin is infectious, but it's Boromir who wins this one as he points out a downside to being an Elf that I'm not sure anyone else has ever thought of. It is unusual and fun to see Boromir "show up" both Pippin and Legolas - I also enjoyed the reference to [A Balrog with wings!]

-- So glad this brought a smile. Thanks so much for reviewing!

What a humorous look at that walk of the Fellowship in the snows of Caradhras. I have to say the description of the way Gimli handles moving through the snow makes me smile widely - and Boromir's answer to the hobbits' amusement at his expense when they compare him and Legolas walking in snow, makes me smile even more widely. I also like very much that last line - the moment of friendship between the son of the Steward and the son of The Elven King. A very fitting little tale for winter reading, as long as you are snug somewhere warm and dry.

I love the idea of Boromir leaving a "snow Balrog"! What a fun little ficlet. The Fellowship had to have had those lighter moments along the way and I'm so glad you showed us one of them.

-- Thank you so much. There is no way the Hobbits wouldn't have caused some frivolity, even in the midst of the journey.

Ah... trust Pippin to see something humorous while the Fellowship attempts to leave Caradhras. I wonder, though, if any of them remembered Boromir’s snow balrog when they met the real thing later on?

Very hobbity in its style. Pippin would certainly do something like this, though I'm not sure Boromir would.

-- Thank you for the sweet Hobbity comment. I will say that Pippin's joy of life is probably rubbing off on Boromir by now!

A fun little vignette of the Fellowship on their journey. Of course it would be Pippin to notice such things-- but I like the way Boromir is such a good sport about it all!

-- Bless you.
