This was one of the very first Lord of the Rings Fan Fictions I ever read. I think that was a lucky chance for me as I was able to see excellent writing and a fantastic plot rather than the opposite. From there I was astonished at the depth of the characters, the emotional journey and the imagery that was wound through this story. The creativity that these two authors displayed captured my attention and I read through the whole fiction in one sitting. I was enthralled. Not only do they portray Legolas as we all would like him to be as a warrior, but they gave him realistic feelings of love lost and then found.

There are a few tropes that folks always warn against: soul-mates, short-term amnesia, and arranged marriages are three. However, those warnings should come with an out clause: all these things can become magical if they're done correctly. And you two sold me completely. Part of it is pacing: nothing in this piece felt rushed. Part of it, of course, is characterization. Isobel is a strong character, easy to believe and believe in. More than any of that, though, your plot choices are impressive. You never took the easy way out, even at the end. That's what made this story feel real and not-entirely-happy-ending-ish.
