I almost never read hobbits, but what a delightful surprise. Beautiful, sexy, warm! It is what being in love is about, getting all hot for each other even after that first flush of lust is gone. Very sensual without being crude. I love that Sam would just stand in the shadows and watch her bath. This is a couple that truely enjoys each other, that knows how to make it last all night. They know that making love is more than a simple physical reaction. It is knowing each other, and part of making a life together. Very well done.

This is a beautiful interlude in a romance fated to be both rich and yearning. Sam has traded the master he loved for a mistress he desired, and in the end must come to terms with his choice. Sam both enjoys the fruit of his lust, and the angst of his grief. He truely does deserve this happiness, but then, so did his master.

This is a warm, loving glimpse of Sam and Rosie on an evening of shared joy. I loved the idea of "Frodo's bane" - the responsibility Sam feels to live his life to the very fullest, for his master's sake as well as his own. And Rosie's trusting acceptance of the things she can't quite understand about her husband is wonderful - you can see why Sam loves her and came home to her. A beautiful story.

Describing a night of love can be terribly boring when the author stumbles into the trap of using the same terms and descriptions as everyone else did before in a countless number of PWP's. Ariel avoided this trap with glorious cleverness. What we see is something seemingly very simple... a married couple, ending a "normal" day, meeting and making love. But everything is vivid and believable, erotic in a very clear, strong, but always tasteful way, and both characters, Sam and Rosie, are perfectly canon... a heartwarming proof that Rosie was someone "special", the woman and wife Sam really loved - and physically, too. Great story!

I especially liked seeing how Sam and Rosie were getting on several years after the Ring War. Your characterization of Rosie was convincing, sweet but not saccharine. She seemed like an adult who had been through a lot and knew what she wanted, but she still remained a hobbit. It was also nice to see a romance from the female POV, something you don't often get even in het. But what really made this piece were the little details, especially at the beginning. Well done.

Your shire is warm and wonderful and I could live a lifetime there. In this story, you've merged sex with the Shire itself, bringing a homey natural feeling to the encounter. And more than that, the twist at the end is so inherently Samwise, it was nearly inevitable.
