*I nice little adventure/action story that is right up my professional alley (subjectwise). The author presents a fairly believable premise and executes it with spare, entertaining style. Another rip-roaring story and an easy read.

I very much enjoyed this…I wouldn't call it a coming of age, but Pippin certainly shows the other Tooks why he is more than ready to be a Thain, and what I love best is that Pippin is such an unconscious leader. It comes very naturally to him, especially in a crisis. We saw inklings of this in LotR when he was captured by the Uruk-hai, and it comes out here as they struggle to deal with the fires. Everard's change of heart in the end was very well-timed. I liked him, despite his occasional hostility, and the fact that he would admit (publicly, no less) to making a mistake only reinforces my liking. Great ensemble cast of characters and hats off to Lindelea for realizing that even the Tooks might think twice about being led by someone who went off to "foreign parts."

There are some really exciting and dramatic moments in this story. It's amazing how Lindelea manages to keep all of the facts straight from story to story, including this one, yet she does. The attention to detail is well done here. As always, everyone is in character, and entertainingly written as per Lindelea's universe. I appreciate the length of the story, as it allows the reader to really become involved in the plot.
