If nothing else, this story has given me a wonderful appreciation for the Tooks. It fits very well with Lindelea's other stories from the same time period and together they form one of the best and most complete pictures of the Shire during and after the time of the "ruffians." But as for the Tooks…what a family. I love how they're among the first to react to men crossing the borders, I low how they buckle down and accept the necessity of what they need to do, and I love how they recover from it. It's clear to me why the Thain holds such a high position in the Shire and why he's been a respected figure throughout the history of Eriador. The Tooks have earned that respect. They're still hobbits and they still speak lightly when more meaningful words might serve better, but there's also that spark of fire and determination in them that has led them to become the adventurous family in the Shire, and Lindelea shows that very well in this story.
