Summary: Poor Pippin. He is traumatized from being exposed to the Eye of Sauron. Everyone thinks he's been really stupid *again* and no one gives him any sympathy for being tortured by Sauron... except Legolas. Pippin really didn't do so badly, when you get right down to it.

Awww! Yes. You don't see it in the movies, but you do in the books, how Pippin grows and changes. I'm glad Legolas acknowledges that, kind elf that he is!

This was a very sweet little story, in which Legolas gives comfort to Pippin after his fright with the palantir. There are just not enough fics out there with Legolas interacting with the hobbits, but this one stuck in my mind as very lovely, and true to the characters involved.

Lovely! Book!Legolas has his biting remarks now and then, but I think under it all, he really is a gentle spirit (when not killing orcs or spiders, of course). I am glad he recognized Pippin's torment and gave him some comfort.

Too often in fanfic Pippin is treated like a child, but not here. It was refreshing to read this story where others recognize Pippin's worth, even if he himself doubts it just at the moment (and who wouldn't, after a direct confrontation with Sauron?). This event fits well with canon and provides a possible positive memory Pippin could draw on in the days to come. Also, well done on the characterization of Legolas. I can very easily see him acting this way. You sure packed a lot into this short piece, and it all works well.

There are some very nice moments in this story. I especially like that Legolas comforts Pippin about what happened in Moria, as so many authors do blame him for waking the balrog and Gandalf's death, and I don't agree with that. The talk about the elves writing a song for Pippin is very nice, and the joke about Legolas making a comb for Aragorn was good. I did think that it was a bit out of character for Merry to leave Pippin's side at this time, and that felt a bit contrived, but overall an enjoyable story.
