I want more! Maybe you've already written it, but I really want to know more about Gilraen and Elrond and how their whole dynamic worked. Aragorn's conversation with her memorial was wonderful, and really, it did make me curious to find out more!

I love this story as much for its characterization of Aragorn as for its characterization of Gilraen, who is dead but still has a strong presence. Aragorn is given quite a bit of depth in this tale, and through this depth we get insight into his mother. Gilraen has a very no-nonsense tone in her son's head, which I can see being very useful when growing up around elves. I'm actually convinced that every elf should have a dwarf to keep himself balanced, and I can see Gilraen's down-to-earth practicality and knowledge of men substituting for that very well.

This fic managed to take several of my complaints about movie!Aragorn-his fear of his heritage, his refusal of a burden he has been preparing to assume since he came of age, the tension between him and Elrond, and the (at the time) unfathomable (or rather, all too fathomable, given the Arwen Warrior Princess rumors) motives of PJ for leaving Anduril in pieces in Rivendell-and make something coherent of them that was consistent with the themes of the books, or so I thought and which yet remained solidly within the movie framework. Eloquent, wise, and incorporating on a much more nuanced level the shadow of Isildur's tainted legacy, this fic really opened movie!Aragorn up for me and helped me see the book!character I loved in the scripted character on the screen.
