I confess, had I noticed that this had not been updated in over 2 years, I never would have started it. I'm sorry now that I did read it, because I fear that it will never be finished, and that's too bad, because it's very difficult to stop reading once you start. I was totally involved from the first paragraph and you never once lost my full attention. The Fall of Gondolin is one of my favorites and this story really helps flesh it out and give Maeglin a personality beyond being evil. Please, please, please consider finishing it?

The descriptions in this story are breathtaking, more so because they filter through the point of view of a master craftsman, Maeglin, so they necessarily contain a deep level of detail and poetry. The sensory images are especially compelling: "pulpy splitting of sword through flesh and blood." From chapter 1 to the end, I felt keenly the dual between awe and yearning that was going on in Maeglin's head. The symbolic end of part 3, with the inadvertent, inescapable murder of the nightengale was a sleek bit of foreshadowing, too. I really wish you would consider finishing this piece. It is lovely.
