Apologies, AE, I'm going to resort to an older review! I enjoyed this story—there aren't many Gilraen writers out there, and the Elrond-Gilraen relationship is left something of a cipher in the books (as is pretty much everything Gilraen). It's good to see her as a young woman who makes mistakes, but who is determined to do her duty at any cost. This isn't a funny story per se, although it is comical in how badly Gilraen misread or rather, wrongly assumed, what Elrond's intentions were. It ends on a bit of a WAFF moment, but it's enjoyable WAFF, I think.

Nicely told. I particularly liked Gilraen's disdain when she learned of Elves' diminished sexual drives, and that Elrond really *didn't* desire her as a mistress. Which of course we all knew anyway, but it was nice seeing Gilraen discover it, and with it just how different life among the Elves could be. I do love AfterEver's Gilraen! Probably better than any other I have ever read, though maybe Gwynnyd's is a tie.

Poor Gilraen. It was a brave offer to make in order to safeguard her son. But doubtless a relief (in spite of the embarrassment of rejection) to find it was out of place. It must have been very hard for her to understand the motivation of a race working to totally different priorities. I like both your Gilraen and your Elrond - and between them they do a good parenting job of their son.

A very interesting and clever tale. You show the differences between the cultures very cleverly. Your characterisations of Elrond and Gilrean are very good, you show so much of their characters by their every word and action and it is all consistant and adds depth to them.

A wonderful story! Of course, *I* knew that it was not Elrond's intent to take her to mistress from the start, but still I was swept along by her not knowing! Excellent!

An interesting exploration: What would Gilraen, herself unfamiliar with Elvenkind, have thought was expected of her in Rivendell? Both sad and amusing.
