Maranya's gift in "Requiem for Boromir" and "A Merry Meeting at Bree" is her ability to remember the characters and the scope of the writing. This is clearly a very strong character author who is very well aware of the time period in which the story takes place and the "feel" of each character. The cast's contributions are appropriate for each character, and the perspective of the story is very much in the hold of whoever is manning the narration. Very solid writing with a nice, tight feel to it.

One of the classic humor mechanisms is hyperbole or exaggeration. While it's most often associated with statements like "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse," it can be found in more subtle areas, and I think Maranya puts forth a good example of this. Here are two men treating something silly and mundane with dramatic flair and declarations of law. It's hilarious in nature, and Maranya's dialogue and delivery make it more so. Kudos for fantastic use of a traditional humor concept and bonus points for improving upon it.
