Poor Bilbo has had a full night of it, and now is wanting to get that bird that is not allowing him peace at a time heââ¬â¢d really prefer to sleep it off! How many of us have felt likewise, I wonder, finding that those birds outside our windows greeting the day are not only rejoicing in the dawn but appearing to be mocking our own foolishness? How Bilbo perceives the particular bird that appears to be deliberately intent on annoying him past bearing is so much fun! Tanaquiââ¬â¢s drabbles are always a joy to read, and this is particularly delightful as we smugly watch one of our favorite Hobbits finding reasons to regret the previous nightââ¬â¢s overindulgence, and as those of us whoââ¬â¢ve known the stresses of awakening with pounding headaches remember similarly wanting to find a means of shutting down the cacophany we perceive outside our windows! And the title is absolutely pricelessââ¬âhow utterly perfect the whole thing has been written and honed! Well written and delightfully humorous. Definitely a drabble to enjoy again and again. Thanks, Tanaqui, for a delightful start to the day! It was such a pleasure and delight to see you taking the prompt Iââ¬â¢d suggested and expressing it so well and with such humor! Definitely kudos to you at doing so well with that prompt.

Due to the summary I was expecting there to be some deep and meaningful reason as to why Bilbo didn't want to hear the birds singing in Rivendell that morning, e.g. his being consumed with guilt that Frodo had departed the day before, burdened with carrying the One Ring to its (hopeful) destruction in Mordor. Still, overimbibing on Elrond's wine is as good a reason as any for a drabble - and given that he may have drunk himseelf into a stupor the night before, I am rather impressed at his being able to write as many as 100 words at all! Nice work Tanaqui.

Ha! I am sure that everyone who has ever had a hangover headache can identify with this situation. Clever use of the prompt, and a wholly believable scenario.
