This story is absolutely amazing to me. It is obvious that the departure of the Ring Bearers was an event that had a tremendous impact on many people who are very central in the trilogy. But I have never read a story that exploited every aspect of that departure as well as this. Everyone worrying about each other and trying to support each other while exhausted from grief and the weight of many ages of battles themselves--you hit on all the relationships here. And the characterization was just perfect. I loved Galadriel's relationship with Celeborn and Arwen's relationship with her father and grandfather and Aragorn's with Elrond. But the last chapter was an absolute tear-jerker, especially the last two paragraphs. Arwen and Aragorn and Celeborn's final reactions to the departure of the ship! Wow! So simple and so powerful.

You cover a lot of ground in this story--Galadriel is obviously worn thin here but she still does not want to leave; Celeborn's interactions with her are so sweet; Celeborn's support of Arwen and his statement that he will stay until he is no longer needed; Arwen's concern for her brothers; Aragorn and Galadriel's conversation about Arwen's choice; Aragorn and Elrond's conversation (my favorite part); the twins' observations about the trees and the fading of the land. You captured the hobbit's voices very well in the last chapter. The goodbyes in that last chapter were very well done. This was a very emotional story. Great job!

I knew this story would be sad, but I thought maybe it would be more bittersweet, because there would be reunions later on. The last little bit killed me though, where Celeborn says the part about the Age of Men....*sniffs*

A really excellent exploration of everything involved in Galadriel sailing to Valinor. I loved the characterizations and the dialogue and all the details that you covered. Well written.
