This is an utterly delightful romp of a crossover between movie-verse LotR and the TV series Supernatural. In it Sam and Dean-- the brothers whose adventures are chronicled in the show-- find themselves joining Aragorn, Leslie and Gimli on the Paths of the Dead and headed for battlefield of the Pelennor. Aragorn immediately tags Sam as Halbarad and Dean as another kinsman. The funniest parts were when the brothers bicker over details of LotR fanfic, some favorites are mentioned by name, and how Dean keeps thinking ["The book was better"]. I also love the twist in which both Gimli and Legolas sense that there is something-- odd-- about these strange kinsmen of Aragorn, while Aragorn himself seems to notice nothing wrong at all. Legolas comes closest to guessing the mystery but doesn't quite hit the mark. At the time that I first read this story, I had never seen even a single episode of "Supernatural". Having watched several episodes of the show now, I can more easily appreciate some of the humor between the brothers-- especially the parts in which Sam displays his inner Tolkien geek, and Dean tries NOT to display his own geekery! I decided to watch the show after having read this story, so I must thank you very much, Rose, for introducing me to the Brothers Winchester!

This was great fun!I loved it, being both a fan of "Lord of the Rings" and "Supernatural". Actually I started watching Supernaural as a friend told me the brotherly bonds reminded her of Tolkien. I've always thought that Sam Winchester would make a great Dunedain with his height and build. I loved the way that San Antonio Rose has brought Sam and Dean into the story at the Paths of the Dead and while writing a gripping story also manages to discuss the merits of books versus films and the variety of stories on the Internet! As we know Halbarad dies in the book, the feeling of suspense in this story is very real. I would love to read more LOTR/ Supernatural crossovers! This story should amuse, grip and entertain lovers of both Tolkien and the TV adventures of the Winchester brothers.

I don't watch TV, so have never seen any Supernatural at all, and am only vaguely familiar with the names of some characters*. Also, I don't believe I've ever read anything by San Antonio Rose before, so wasn't sure what I'd find in randomly clicking on this tale's link. Turns out to be great fun (well-written fun, I might add), with name-dropping of various Tolkien geeks and sites. It's an entertaining and consistent story that's not just cross-over, but meta, which only adds to the reader's enjoyment. * So I can't speak at all to whether the characters are true to Supernatural canon. They are consistent in-story, however!

I watchedââ¬ÅSupernaturalââ¬Â when it first came out and loved it. Unfortunately, going overseas for a few years, I lost track of the show and as I donââ¬â¢t have TV I havenââ¬â¢t seen it since returning to the States. Nevertheless, I loved this. The dialogue between the two brothers as they trade comments about the book and movie versions of the Lord of the Rings is priceless. A fun read.
