I do love this tale, and I'll admit to being both curious and excited to find it in the "Incomplete" section. Does that mean there will be more? I certainly hope so! Boromir's chapter is a delight, of course, and so is Legolas', but my favorite is Gimli's. There's something which is so delightful about the image of our favorite dwarf bundled up with two hobbits on either side like a broody hen! Thank you!

Oh, I enjoyed these stories. Each of the three Big Folk (though Gimli is a Dwarf) saw something different to wonder at about the Hobbits. I loved that Boromir recognized Merry's intelligence, and how Gimli and Aragorn likened Hobbits to cats (and Aragorn's descriptions of those creatures were perfect!), and then Legolas's gentle curiosity and keen observations. Good characterizations all around!

The was wonderful from Boromirs lecture on every 'honorable' advantage, to Gimli allowing the Hobbits to sit against him to keep warm, to discovering that Gloin taught both Gimli and the hobbits the trick of keeping the water unfrozen, to Legolas's fascination with the hobbits' complete lack of personal dignity and unquenchable curiosity and love for stories. And all the commentary on Hobbits in between. This is an amusing and captivating story.

I loved the way Gimli became a hot water bottle for Merry and Pippin - and his bemusement about becoming an honorary hobbit. He seemed to find it rather easier to understand than Legolas did. The battle and the bath were beautifully done and I'm sure Boromir and Legolas have developed a much better grasp of life with hobbits. I look forward to more.

Very nice use of movie verse (including one of my favorite invented scenes in the film) and excellent insights into hobbit character and values. "Security, safety...plentitude and peace"...readers can learn a lot about hobbits from this story, right along with Boromir and the other Big Folk.

This is a delightful series of vignettes made up of various Big Folk getting to know the hobbits. I look forward to more of them.

These are very cleverly written. The dialogue is fantastic. They capture the hobbits' voices perfectly. And they have some wonderful description in them. I'm not usually a big hobbit fan, but this was wonderful!
