Short, funny take on a popular theme. I was getting ready to commend the author on an conventional means of sending an OC to Arda (a peremptory talking Gnome rather than a magical portal, amulet, TV screen, or time-travel) but I wasn't sure what else I was going to be able to say. Marian's story was pleasant, but it was nearly over, and where was the point? Then - PAYOFF. I don't know if this was a self-insert or not, but I don't mind admitting that some of my pleasure came from a professional investment on my own part. Marian, you are so not allowed to sigh. Anywhere else in Arda you would be either sick, bored, dead, or out-of-your-wits terrified. Instead, you are in the most exciting place in all Middle-earth.

This is a rollicking, delightful story! To make a wish, via a Gnome, and have it actually granted! Oh - and what a fair place to land. And to be able to.... ah, yes! And then - to see HIM. Have HIM approach. Actually speak to HIM!!! Could heaven not be more perfect. But then, to have everything be the same. Hopefully, she can figure a way to accompany HIM? I hope so! I rolled on the floor with this crossover. I don't think I've ever seen one with Marion the Librarian of The Music Man and a certain .... from The Lord of the Rings. Who would have thought! You must read this if you enjoy a good laugh.

A delightful and slightly bittersweet story about a librarian who is granted a wish to visit Rivendell where she becomes as beautiful as she always dreamed of being. When her hero, Boromir arrives, however, she finds it is not easy to break the habits of a lifetime. A nice twist on the "Girl falls in Middle-earth plot " as Marian is the very opposite of the a Mary Sue. I am certain many readers will identify with her.

I am usually not a fan of cross-overs and modern-people-fall-into-ME stories, but this one is really nice and funny - especially for all Boromir fans!

This was a lot of fun. I am quite envious of Marian!
