Ha! Well, I certainly like *this* game better than golf, and it's far less gory in origin, too. What a fun little piece - it has that nice accretion of actions and ideas that shows an evolution and the expansion of a local event into a Shire-wide tradition. Well done, Tanaqui!

An entertaining and very plausible explanation on how sporting tournaments might have originated, at least in the Shire. It seems very typical of hobbits to invent organized sports, with drinking and cheering. This drabble could have been written by Tolkien, it just makes a lot of hobbit-sense. Nicely done!
