Weve read, heard, and seen the Riders of Rohan heading off to battle singing and laughing in the face of danger. We know little of the common folk of Rohan, so this story brings some of them alive for us in the form of a devoted but unskilled embroiderer; a loving husband who fears his wifes tongue more than he fears battle; and his loyal comrades, laughing and high-spirited as they ride to war under a somewhat unconventional banner. A whole world of a village, told simply in 100 words.

Very amusing! These poor Rohirrim warriors, so fearless in battle, so clueless in marriage. In sympathy with Hildwyn, I can only imagine that it would be extremely difficult to create a convincing appliqué of a galloping horse -- assuming, that is, that you are not Elvish, and therefore capable of extraordinary works of beauty and perfection. *snicker* Guys will be guys.... even Riders of the Mark!

And here I was under the terribly mistaken impression that the banners these men rode behind were dignified and symbolic. All hail the White Pig! Many thanks for pointing out the error of my ways, and many thanks for many loud guffaws at this hilarious drabble!

Ah! The bane of all so-called happily married men. But what lovely men, to support their commander in his hour of need. !

A nice funny drabble. I like the way you show so much about the characters in so few words.
