I reviewed this over on the Faerie archive but I had to pop in here to tell you again how much I enjoyed this piece. I like a good Legolas pairing but I don't like all Legolas/Glorfindel or Legolas *insert character here* stories because people write the personalities so different. I also hate a weepy or overly angsty Legolas (heaven knows why I keep writing them. lol) Anyway, it's the personalities that drew me to this story but it's the storytelling that kept me intrigued to the end. I really like the way you've written both characters here. I can see Legolas being worn by the quest, wondering where his relationship with Glorfindel is going, fighting the sea longing, frustrated by his inability to get Glorfindel to trust his judgement. And I can also see Glorfindel, wanting to prove his intentions but letting his natural concern take over, feeling protective not only because of Legolas's youth but because of his experiences in the war. Legolas is a strong character here, a real leader, and I don't see too many stories that capture this aspect of him, but I love reading it. This is just an all around great read with action, adventure, romance, all the things that make for a ripping yarn. And even the twins manage to have their moment as well. You did a great job here of tying it all together and the ending was quite exciting, a real nail-biter. I'm glad to see this competing here and I hope it does well.

This is a great exploration of the relationship between older and younger partners, and all the issues between them. Nicely written and pacey, it has a simmering sexuality that layers the story without becoming the reason for it. Instead the relationship expands and deepens and it's more about Glorfindel developing as a character than anyhting else. Lightly written with lots of great action between that perfectly suits the characters. There's a nice little by-plot that drifts in an out lightly and gives a little spice.

This is a well-written and extremely plausible scene. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, yet it also leads to other problems; the author shows this issue to the reader very well. On the whole, this piece is sweet and fulfilling, showing a relationship in which the partners are sure of themselves and have true emotion in spite of their differences.

A real partnership takes time to grow and mature under the best circumstances. It is much more difficult to achieve when the partners face a large age and life experience difference gap as well but not quite impossible.

A beautiful story that shows Legolas after his life changing experience and how that could affect those closest to him. I love it!
