This is one of my favorite Merry/Pippin stories. The angst that each feel for the other during the battle and the aftermath is so heart-felt, especially when Pippin finds Merry. When they realize their true feelings for each other, I almost cheered! I do love a well-done story that has Merry and Pippin as more than friends. It was so well done here ... the step from friendship to more-than was very natural and believable. They find comfort in each other, and the story left me feeling very satisfied and joy-filled.

I found the relationship of the characters as depicted here to be natural and easy to believe in. Normally I am more interested in Frodo and Sam stories, slash or gen, but I really thought that the author got Merry and Pippin down here. I felt that this story did a good job of explaining what is actually a very complex relationship on many levels. The descriptions were very easy to visualise and the dialogue was really well done.
