Wow. Now that's what I call fanfiction! I mean, really wow. As a gap-filler this is perfect, but for me, in terms of canon its also spot on. What I also really enjoyed about this was the serious look at Maedhros and Fingon's relationship in a platonic sense - every action between them just seemed to flow so well, and it was very clear what both had been through. And whilst all the main themes of this piece are executed brilliantly, the smaller touches like the part about dwarven fighting tactics and the observations of the other Feanorians etc are just as important to the whole ficlet. Highly commendable!

A fine story about the friendship between cousins Maedhros and Fingon. The description of sword fighting is particularly good, as is their way of fighting in deadly earnest--for they are practicing to become better in combat, not as part of a hobby. The reasons for Maedhros' behavior is made clear, and the complicated emotions of these two cousins are well expressed. Not slash, but still intense. Good story.

In this short scene, Marta offers the reader a look at what might have occured between Maedhros and Fingon in the aftermath of the latter's rescue of the former. It certainly makes a great deal of sense, and is it plays out, the bond between the characters as they come to terms with the past is very evident.

This is a wonderful story. There are many ways to show loyalty and all of them are binding. Maedhros' decision to submit to his younger cousin -- and by extension, to his uncle -- is proof of that.
