This was good. I especially liked the line " He had no tasks left to perform here."; I think that captures the very essence of why Sam stayed, because he had to "remain whole" for some time so the Red Book could be recorded. My only suggestion is that the drabble seemed too broad in its scope for the word limit. This might actually work better as a *series* of drabbles - maybe three? One when he leaves the Shire, one when he arrives at the Haven, and one when he reaches Valinor.

Drabbles fascinate me, the way you can say so much in so few words, paint a picture or tell an entire story. I like the metaphor of the garden as a picture of the stages of Sam's life, even in this brief glimpse.
