I had not seen this story before! I'm so glad it was in the "hobbit list" at the MEFA, for I vowed to myself that I would at least read the hobbit stories before the deadline, even if I didn't get to all the others until later. So many stories, so little time! I skimmed this one, and so have no real "meat" to offer save I like your bright and breezy writing style.

This was a well-done and fascinating look at some of the "other" Tooks that Gandalf counted among his friends! It is easy to see reading this where Pippin got his bravery and wanderlust. I loved that Isengar was so similar to Pippin. The cuts back and forth between Isengar and the past, to Pippin and the present, were very nicely done.
