Well, this piece came along at the right time for me, as it reinforced an idea I had for a fic of my own. I do think Elros had to choose as he did, and he knew it, and really, so did Elrond, there was a reason, though they might not know what it was. Really brave of them both to follow those destinies though they didn't know what they were.

I liked the sense of time in this-everything always happens too fast; expectations are always negated by reality, and there's the play on losing what one began with-the society one had built, the face one had loved. I'm not convinced by the pairing as it's done here, but it doesn't really upset much.

Touching and poignant. His decision must have been a hard one. This set of drabbles pulls that out and the remembrance of the brother at the end is a very nice touch.

Another sad one by Oaks… one of the saddest tales in Tolkien… the sundering of Elrond and Elros. Very well done in a set of drabbles.

Another sad, yet beautiful drabble. The repetition of lines and patterns as well as the way those patterns are changed make a perfectly balanced mix of contrast and similarity. A similarly good balance is in the way not only death but also Elrond's sacrifice are stressed, and those sacrifices appear no less sad then death. The last line about working for a world but never seeing it brings that home.
