Funny, how most children are not happy with the name they got from their parents. In this case young Estel doesn't even know that he has a grand name, which makes the story even more poignant. And Elrond better go and prepare the rest of the family about the explanation he gave Estel or the truth might come to light earlier than he would like. I love the misspelling of Aragorn. If Estel only knew...

I very much enjoyed this story...it's just so cute! Little Estel is adorable in ANY story Fiondil's written him into. *reminds self to nominate "The Young Mortal's Guide to Trees" for next year* But anyway, this is fun from start to finish. And the last bit...Please, please don't be eating or drinking anything at the end, you'll be dying laughing =D it's TOO funny. How could he...yeah, really!!!!!! *giggles madly* I love it, I love it! I adore the idea of Elrond and Estel having an admittedly geeky moment making jokes about Sindarin vs Quenya names! The gentle humor in this piece is wonderful, and the love between Elrond and Estel shines out in a very heartwarming way. But the best part, at least for me, was the name that Estel managed to misspell. That gaff makes me laugh out loud every time I read this.

I doubt if there has ever been a child born who did not, at some time in his or her life, believe that his name was a stupid one. Young Estel is asking difficult questions, and Elrond provides answers as best he can. A good story for those who love words and language.
