Summary: Erestor chronicles the events leading up to, and after Celebrian's choice to sail. Above all, Erestor is concerned for Elrond as he searches for an understanding of why his wife can no longer enjoy the sound Rive Bruinen as she once did.

Elrond thinks the sound of the river will comfort his traumatized wife, but it invokes only terror. Though no explanation is forthcoming, water clearly played some part in Celebrian's torment. This premise strikes an ominous note and invokes curiosity: it would do well with further development.

I really like openmeadow's decision to tell this story through a third-party observer. While Erestor was undeniably involved in these events, he had the ability to take a step back and gain perspective on the situation. I enjoyed that aspect of this.

Chilling - makes one think of all the things that one can do with water to make someone hate it. Waterboarding comes all too easily to mind, among other possibilities. Poor Elrond, and poor CelebrÃan, to have lost the savor of something she once held so dear, and for such a terrible reason!
