Dear Kaylee Arafinwiel, I donââ¬â¢t have any particular interest in family trees, but youââ¬â¢ve spun a charming story out of this one. I can imagine the twins doing just such a thing under the supervision of good old Erestor, and it is mind-boggling to picture people who can trace their familyââ¬â¢s roots back all the way to the creator. The human line will, of course, be very much longer, but the Elven line certainly outdoes it in terms of drama. Eleven immortality can lead to strange encounters, and it makes me grin to think of that longed-for time when they all meet again in Valinor. ââ¬ÅI am you great-great-great-great-great-great-grandmother on your motherââ¬â¢s fatherââ¬â¢s fatherââ¬â¢s motherââ¬â¢s fatherââ¬â¢s mothersââ¬â¢ motherââ¬â¢s side.ââ¬Â Complicated indeed, and one has to hope that they wonââ¬â¢t go into second and third counsinsâ⬦Until then, though, Melian, Earendil and Elwing are fortunate to have such a handy magic mirror. Thank you for a sweet story.

You would make any hobbit grin with pride. :D I like to think I'm part Hobbit (I'm certainly short enough, and fascinated with food and family trees enough!) as well as part Elf (for obvious reasons LOL!) I'm very glad you enjoyed the story despite our differences on enjoyment of genealogy (pardon the upcoming pun, but with me...it's genetic! *cue groan* No really...both my grandfathers were/are genealogists. Hehe. Hence my interest!) Anyway, enough about me, but thank YOU so much for your kind reviews!!! My New Year's resolution for today is to do better at reviewing on MEFAs NEXT year!

I had to take a quick peek at Rhyselleââ¬â¢s story to remind myself what it was about. This is a lovely remix of the original story seen through different eyes and giving one a different perspective of the interrelationship of the various Elven and Mortal lines of descent in Elrondââ¬â¢s family. After reading this (and Rhyselleââ¬â¢s original) youââ¬â¢ll be wanting to invest in your own genealogy software just to figure out all the connections.
Author response: Atto! Thank you for your review. I'm glad you feel I did the remix well (I certainly did my best on it, lol!) and yes, Rhyselle's original should definitely be read, too. Thank you so much! (And I, for one, did need to invest in my own genealogy software just to write the story, so there you go! LOL!)

I do like the idea of Melian watching the goings-on in the library of Imladris from afar. And I rather think I may come back to this if I need the details of that genealogy some time in the future.
Author response: Thanks, curiouswombat! =) I do appreciate your taking the time to review, and I'm so very glad you liked this idea! Credit also goes to Rhyselle, as this was a remix of her story, so I do hope you'll drop by "Line of Heroes" and read it, too. It's a great fic, one I really enjoyed, genealogy obsessed as I am. =) Thank you again! Kaylee Arafinwiel

Kaylee Arafinwiel has such a way with words! This youthful writer has surprised me on several occasions with her ability to take a brief prompt and quickly weave it into a delightful story that is engaging and often multi-layered. This Elven tale, written for a remix challenge, is a wonderful read!

Oh, Cathleen!!! *blushes* Thank you, so so much, for your encouragement. You are one of those who has helped me settle into Tolkien's world as comfortably as I have. I will always be grateful for your support!

A delightful glimpse of the childhood of Elladan and Elrohir as seen through the eyes of their illustrious forebears. It is all too easy to forget just how special this family is.
Author response: Thank you so much, Linda! I'm glad you find this story delightful. =) After reading Rhyselle's story, I could never forget how special they were.

Elladan and Elrohir prepare a copy of their very complex family tree as a gift for their father, and manage to remember all of their ancestors.
Author response: That about sums it up, Liadan :) Thank you for taking the time to comment.
