Among the Rohirrim, certainly, there is hardly any bond more crucial than that between a Rider and his horse. So this 'Courtship' is not a romantic interlude between Eomer and Lothiriel, it is the beginning of the connection between Eomer and Firefoot. Foxrafer skillfully evokes the rising interest between these two future partners, liking, approval, loving glances and grass-kicking...And it works. They respect each other and know that they are destined for a great, storied relationship. Very well-written and enjoyable!

Seduction takes a different role in this piece. The author's interpretation of this prompt was wonderfully unique, and I thought it seemed to work well for all the characters involved. Culturally, it seems more relevant to show the bond between a horse and rider than any two people, and Ãâ°omer's attraction to his mount is interesting.

This is a lovely interpretation of that 'perfect horse moment', as horse and rider eye each other up, each clearly well aware that this is a match made in heaven! A moment that is to be important in the whole history of Middle Earth - described beautifully.

This ficlet is sheer delight to read as it shows Eomer's first meeting with Firefoot. It was love at first sight for horse and man. It seems that they each recognise the greatness in each other. Long may this bond between Eomer and his steed endure. I felt as if I were there at their first meeting.

What is it like for a Rider such as Eomer Eadig to choose his warhorse? Considering Eomerââ¬â¢s future and the possible descent of Firefoot from Shadowfax, it is probable that it should take place in this manner, with Firefoot being coy and evasive by turns. A remarkable brief look at the relationship between the Rohirrim and their steeds!

Not all love affairs are sexual, nor are they always between men and women. This brief but excellent tale is vivid in its imagery, and portrays how much the Rohirrim and their horses love each other. A very well written story that is a pleasure to read.
