So typical of Sam; always the last to think of his own welfare over that of others. But his kin are having a grand old time of taking care of him for a change, as Gamgeefest shows us all in this fluffy family lovefest. A sweet little tale that will make you shake your head in fond exasperation at everyone's favourite (though a bit too selfless, sometimes) gardener, applaud his sensible wife as she makes his day of illness a little more bearable for him with her mere presence, and smile indulgently at the antics of his rosy-faced, curly-haired offspring as they read him a bed-time story to ease him to sleep. An all-round charming little fic!
Author response: Thank you, Kara's Aunty! Sam is truly selfless, never thinking of his own welfare. His wife and family don't have that problem though. ;) It was fun to write this story, imagining how his family would care for him. I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

When the Mayor of the Shire catches a terrible cold, his wife knows just what to doââ¬âsend the children off to the farm for the day, make certain that her husband stays abed as much as possible, and see to it he has every comfort. After all, he deserves it! A heartening look at Sam Gamgee being cared for marvelously as he recovers, and as much by his children once theyââ¬â¢ve returned from Uncle Tom and Aunt Marigoldââ¬â¢s as by his wife. And their choice of reading material to read Daddy to sleep is perfect! A charming tale as we see our beloved Sam being coddled.
Author response: Thank you, Larner! Sam is so often the one doing the coddling, it's always fun to see others taking care of him for a change. And he does deserve it! I can imagine the children debating amongst themselves on what story to read to their father. They're such endearing children. :)

A nice, cozy tale about life in the Gamgee household when Sam is ill. Rosie takes care of him, and even the children make their contributions to their father's welfare. A pleasant read.
Author response: Thank you, Darkover! I can only imagine that Rose and the children would enjoy a chance to take care of their selfless father when he needs it. I'm glad you enjoyed this!

This is a sweet story! I love most the kids reading Farmer Giles to him - too bad he couldn't stay awake! And I love the ending too - that time with his family was all he needed. I would have loved to known what was in those letters though - lucky him to get so many.
Author response: Thank you, Antane! It's fun to think that Tolkien's other stories would be well-known to those in Middle-earth, and Farmer Giles is such a hobbity tale. I have no idea what's in the letters - he didn't share them and Rose shooed me away when I tried to read them. ;) I'm glad you enjoyed this!

Ah Sam. Being as I am ill myself at this fime, I am extremely jealous of Sam. I want Rosie by my side. This is such a gentle piece of writing that I find myself feeling better. Lovely well-written story.
Author response: Thank you, Agape! I know how you feel! I'm always envious of hobbits when I get sick. My cats cuddle with the best of them, but they're not very good about bringing me tea. ;) I hope you're feeling better now.

Poor Sam has a dreadful cold. Fortunately he has plenty of those who will make sure he gets his medicine and all the rest that he needs to recover! Really good fun fluff!
Author response: Thanks, Dreamflower! If only we all had some Gamgees near at hand when we're feeling ill!
