Bless the curiosity of small Tooks, as Peregrin Took makes his first visits to the chambers once inhabited by old Gerontius and feels there are adventures here for those who are willing to look for them! Cathleen captures the atmosphere of the room well, and the draw of the abandoned journal. It makes me wish I could accompany Pippin into the room and sit by him on the dusty old sofa and go through the journal with him! These two ficlets make me wish I could visit the Great Smials and just explore!

A series of ficlets inspired by a challenge at the PippinHealer's group, to detail Pippin's first encounter with Great-great-grandfather Gerontius' musty old study. Each of them evokes that sleepy dreamy feeling of being in a quiet room filled with books. I think my favorite one is the last one, in which we get to vicariously meet a young Gerontius. I hope she writes more of these soon.

I like this tale of the wandering lad whose cat leads him into the study. The atmospheric description of the state of the room nearly had me sneezing - your prose is vivid and brings the reader right into the situation. The characterization is lovely - even the cat has a believable personality! I look forward to reading more of this. Niggle: as if this part of the smial was holding [it’s] its breath,

This short story would make an excellent beginning to something longer. It is interesting to speculate on just how Pippin knew about the Old Took's room and what he may have found there.

This is a very entertaining story that features Peregrin Took as he does a bit of exploring in the Old Took's former study. It came from a prompt listed on the Pippin Healers group and the author has done a wonderful job of telling us about this adventure in her story. I enjoyed reading this very much. It is very entertaining.
