This is one of the most poignant, touching stories about Galadriel I've ever read. In the days when she loses her daughter (because of the orc attack), she begins to realize how her own mother must've felt when she lost her. She is so devastated that she even thinks she deserves what happened to her. Celeborn is also devastated because of loss of their daughter, but he proves why he is called "wise": he has an advice that will start to heal his wife's soul - to send a letter to her mother. Beautifully written.

This short story by Ellie does an excellent job in highlighting family dynamics, using one of the more well-known family lines in Middle-earth: that of Galadriel. With a delicate balance of bad and good emotion, this is a heart-warming story that makes the best of a bad situation.

Partings can be difficult for Elves, too; they are perhaps not as used to them as mortals are. And even someone who has lived for millennia has things to learn. Worth reading.
