As he and his wife approach the White City, Peregrin Took, now the Thain of the Shire, thinks on his first arrival here and his reactions then. A wonderful contrast between then and now, and wonderful memories to contemplate. Nicely done, Danzingkatz.

This ficlet gives a very condensed impression of Minas Tirith, remembered across years and experience. I loved Pippin's comment about not being able to fit into his armor now, and the reasons for it - very hobbity!

A wonderful monologue from Pippin's POV as he remembers that long ago day when he first saw Minas Tirith, during the darkest days of the Quest. The descriptions show his love for that place, in spite of the terrors he endured there. And now he looks forward to another ["first sight"] after many a long year. Wonderfully done!

This short moment concisely sums up Pippin's awe at the sight of the biggest city most people in Middle Earth could imagine. The ending catches just a hint of Pippin's current sadness and the sense of comfort he feels with this new home-away-from-home. Once again, well done.

I bet Pippin did have just that reaction! Very effective and believable account of his first impressions, and a pleasantly sobering ending.

This is exactly the impression I believe Pippin would have had of Minas Tirith. I loved the description of the White Tree and of Diamond fattening Pippin up. Nicely done.

This story is only disappointing in that I so want to know what happens next!!
