Summary: When the King of Gondor is about to visit Emyn Arnen, young Elboron, son of Faramir and Éowyn, decides that he has no need of festive ceremonies and flees the palace, to hide in the keeping of the Healer of Ithilien (my OFC from "Winter Fire"). His parents are in panic, King Aragorn is amused and the punishment for Elboron's "escape" turns out to be slightly different than expected...

To escape stuffy welcomes and stuffier clothing, Elboron disappears from Emyn Arnen to the healer's cottage. Excellent atmosphere, and all too realistic look at the attitudes of wary young boys seeking a more relaxed atmosphere when all threatens to become too formal.

A pleasant romp in the woods of Ithilien; as little Elboron plays truant from the ghastly chore of getting dressed up for the King's visit. Intriguing use of an OFC and Damrod. Excellent characterisation of Elboron, and nice descriptions, too.
