I generally imagine things from alternate perspectives, but this is one that even I never imagined. And you made it very real, very three-dimensional. It was spooky, which fit the narrator, but it was also touching, especially there towards the end. I was confused toward the end, though. In bookverse the Dead don't actually sail up the Anduin. At least, I don't think it is. If it _is_ movieverse, it works fine as such, but I would have preferred to have been warned upfront.

Definitely an interesting perspective. We just take for granted that they will follow Aragorn and fulfill their oath, but never really think about what they're experiencing. I think the movie gave me more of a sense of how they felt, when the king demanded their release after the battle.

I love the feeling of reluctant anticipation in the first part of this fic. It's almost as though he's afraid to hope that it will be over. And that feeling is contrasted nicely by the peace in the end. I love the little details that completed the scene of homecoming, and I love the way a warm embrace seems to make everything disappear.

An interesting point of view and a nice ending. Some of the telling seemed to be trying to be poetic without quite succeeding.

This is one of those stories that sticks in the mind, that just kind of stays with you and walks around with you for a while. And gives you good shivers. I have to admit it made me cry too.... Thanks, Alex. Lovely piece of work....
