Aww. Yeah, Pippin is more precious I guess!

My computer screen nearly got sprayed with a mouthful of tomato and barley soup when Gimli tried to think like Pippin, at Legolas' instigation, and subsequently concluded: "And my father always taught me that elves were stupid." This was just delightful-I loved the unexpected end. I loved Gimli getting jibed at every turn about how hobbits are great burglars, as Dwarves, and especially Gimli ought to have cause to know.

This was a lovely, hobbity idea. Everyone was in character, and I could imagine Pippin actually doing this, egged on by Frodo, and Merry of course, and then when Pippin was found out, Merry sticking with him while he hid and then tried to return Gimli's gift. And this line, when Gimli gives Pippin one of Galadriel's hairs for his own: "Aye, it was," said Gimli. "But I have three, and I only have one Peregrin." What a nice line, and a lovely sentiment.
