I liked the hope at the end of this drabble. It started off almost tentatively, with Merry thinking about everything that was missing and yet the Shire didn't seem affected. But in true hobbit fashion, he doesn't stay down long, and I loved the way he found changes for the better and how he sees this as a promise that such changes will continue. Very upbeat by the end, which strikes me as very typical of Merry.

This is sweet, sweet, sweet!! I love the happy images mixed with just a hint of melancholy. But the pleasant definitely outweighs the sad. The images of Sam as “blushing mayor” and little Pippin in love are heart warming and definitely show that although the Shire is fraught with change, not all those changes are bad. It’s great seeing things from Merry’s point of view too. This is not a perspective that is seen often enough. Well done!

Very nice! A gentle look, a deft touch, and somehow I can see that sudden smile. Merry is always seen as the most introspective of the hobbits (unless Frodo takes that role), and he sounds very "true" here. I especially like the hopeful ending.

This is an interesting glimpse at the things that are changing after the Ring War, and the things that aren't. Without a little smidgen of angst it wouldn't be Dwim, but there's a happy ending -- fitting, really.

This was very sweet, and well expressed; in character and within canon as well! Very nicely done!

Nicely done. I like the contrast between Bilbo's party and this one.
