I had to laugh about this drabble - it wasn't only the nearly hobbity humor coming up in young Aragorn's little quest, his validation, or the fact that the Elves have a saying like [it's raining cats and dogs] in the first place, but because I had nearly the same reaction when I first encountered the proverb while I was learning English; only that I was at school, so running outside to go looking for stray cats and dogs in the downpour was out of the question. A cute, quaint story that sent me on a quick nostalgia trip. Thank you, Jay.

Sometimes, in order to be effectively written, a tale doesn't have to be thought-provoking or impressive, just cute. And this drabble is cute! Read it, and enjoy. It is nicely composed.

Only slightly spoilery! I'll try not to give away the game entirely. I always enjoy Jay of Lasgalen's drabbles featuring Elladan, Elrohir and young Estel, and I enjoyed this one immensely. Leave it to Estel to turn a metaphor into a literal truth! This one gave me a huge smile.

Dear Jay of Lasgalen, seeing the title I just had to read this. This expression is my prime example when I'm explaining to my students what figurative language is. Trust young Estel though to really find a little soaked cat. That ending gave me a huge grin. What a sweet drabble, thank you for making me smile.

I was rolling on the floor, laughing near to choking by the unexpected and seriously hysterical twist to this tale. The title might be a foreshadowing, but I still wasn't prepared for the last line. Glad I wasn't sipping a drink!

Lovely, happy drabble. I wonder if it's original idea comes from the song "It's Raining Men" from the '80s? (wink)

A cute glimpse at a child's mentality. As always, I thoroughly enjoy any glimpse of a young Aragorn, especially one that brings a smile.

Charming little picture of an adorable little Estel and an Elrohir who tosses idioms around a little too freely! Quaint, simple and sweet.

Ha! Very cute punchline. I love Estel being so terribly literal here.

ROTFL! I just LOVE how literal minded little Estel is! Too funny!
