I really like this tale. It's short and sweet and really has something to say. It's a moment in time on a random day with 3 good friends after their adventures in the Ring Wars. You can tell they are very close. I like the shyness of Frodo, not wanting to make Aragorn feel uncomfortable about his curiosity about his mother. But the King makes it very clear that there really is nothing he wouldn't share. The same with Legolas. They were led to believe that Legolas would not speak of his mother, yet he comfortably answered what they asked. No hesitation. They really do have quite the friendship here. I feel a little sad for Frodo, never having met his mother, and wondering how she would react and feel about him and his deeds; and if she would be really proud. That's something that's very understandable. This is a very good story and I highly recommend it. Great story!!

I don't think I've ever seen Frodo's mother explored this way, but it would be something I could see him going to Aragorn about. I liked the complication Legolas provides in speaking of his father but not his mother. At least, not until asked. It seems he's gotten over that little hurdle, and I enjoyed the theme of new beginnings he brings to the conversation.

Short and sweet and gives insight into Frodo's past and his feelings about it that were never explained in the book!

A comforting story for them all. Their mothers would indeed be proud of them. I'm glad Frodo has some assurance in this manner and hope he can believe it too.
