Kortirion is marvelously skilled in conveying lush sensuality even in the most economical of genres. This delicious drabble focuses solely on Théodred's caressing of Boromir's hand. There's that lovely element of shared history in that Théodred is already familiar with each callous and scar and knotted bone; he knows and loves Boromir's body as well as he does his own. And while it's clear that Théodred's exploration with fingertips, lips, and tongue is a precursor to a more thorough and detailed examination, for the discerning reader these 100 words, like a perfect chocolate, provide complete satisfaction. Just under the surface of this richness, though, lies a bleak undercurrent [the too-short life-line that matched his own]. Théodred and Boromir both sense that they are not destined for long life, and so must make the most of each rare and precious moment they have together. This melancholy adds a slightly bitter tang to the the tale, lifting it far beyond the ordinary.

A drabble that focusses on the smallest details of Boromir's hand, with its own personal history of scars and healed wounds - Théodred wants to memorise everything about it when his lover is absent and takes his time to explore everything very slowly and thoroughly. No direct feelings are described, yet the mood seems wistful because of the looming parting - maybe even somewhat foreboding? The ending is particularly poignant, and seems to creep up quite unexpectedly, to great effect. I like how the drabble skirts the edge between subtle and overt erotic touches, and the languorous pace of it, which also contributes to the punch of the ending.

Oooh, more Theodred-Boromir goodness, and goodness it is indeed! This is one of those pieces that proves that one does not have to be at all explicit to portray passion and sensualism, or to be extremely provocative. Theodred's intense concentration on Boromir's hand, his careful exploration, Boromir's reactions to Theodred's attention - all these things conspire to successfully express the physical attraction between the two, as well as the bittersweet nature of their assocation, for not only do they have very little time *together*, as the last line reminds us, they both have very little time left in their lives at all.

This gave me the shivers reading it. You draw a picture with your words that is difficult to NOT see. And difficult to read without pleasure. LOL The last line, of course, brings it all home. Their love so fervent, so deep, so strong. Like two great mountains - and yet, even great mountains, can be worn away by a little water.... or a little blood. Thank you. *goes off to weap*

Congratulations on an extremely effective use of the true drabble format: to create an entire story in 100 words. Like the foreshadowing and the the sentiment conveyed without resorting to sentimentality.

This drabble has an awful lot of sensual details which the author uses to good affect to create an intense mental image of how things might have happened. B/T fans should enjoy this.
