Nicely done. I especially liked the last lines about the orcs being forged in fury. That explains a lot of their hate too.

The pride of the elves Orc-style. This is a great piece that isn't afraid to show the world through the eyes of an Orc, and I love the result. This Orc's opinion on the elves and their idiocy is beautiful, and from the Orc's standpoint, completely rational and well-founded. His own opinion of himself echoes the reasoning of the elves that he scoffs, but then, they are from the same roots, aren't they? Wonderfully twisted look into the mind of an Orc who is quite proud of what he is.

This is a great little vignette. I adore this orc, who would give a lesson in existential aesthetics to the Elves, if only they could grasp it. "You are pig-iron and we are steel"-perfect inversion! The orcs do come off rather badly in the Silmarillion, especially around Doriath, where it seems one screaming human waving a sword can get them to run; this orc, however, is purpose itself, and very much grounded in his world of metal and hatred, attuned to the awful beauty of destruction and drivenness (is that a word?). Eloquent madness from the belly of a beast-well done!

That last full paragraph is the most powerful. Elves, the raw material; Orcs the finished product. *shiver*

I think that is one of the best depictions of an orc I have ever read. One who is both evil and brainwashed into the purpose of his master. An incredible and frightening story. Those elves don't know what they are going to wake up to.

Interesting look at the first age orcs…"formed and forged for fury" is a wonderful description.

What a chilling vignette! Your Orc is so incredibly sadistic, feeling empowered by inflicting pain - wanting his sword to dull so his enemies will feel the pain, using his sleeping fellow Orc to test its sharpness. Your descriptions of the sounds and feelings of being within the belly of that mechanical beast -- and the Orc's thoughts about it -- are superb! I especially liked the way you ended: "You are pig-iron and we are steel. We have been remade, refined, perfected - fashioned, formed and forged for fury. Here we come." That is terrifying!
