You know, you just have to wonder if Elrond and Elros had any happy memories to overcome all the sad ones. It amazes me that either of them could go on and keep striving. I don't know if I like the idea that Elros talked to Maglor before he left...although I guess it would have given him some sort of closure, which he'd been denied otherwise.

This is a hushed and soul-rending moment, including strong characterizations of both Maglor and Elros. I could feel distinctly the energy and optimism of Elros, and the utter pathos and loneliness of Maglor. Beautiful short piece.

I have this strange fascination with Maglor, and I think Nol nails his character in this fic. He's become very child-like, which I can see madness doing, but from time to time, he is still Maglor, the son of FŽanor. It's in his voice, his bearing, and occasionally his words. He's very much like the seashell that Elros thinks of. Simple to look at, but far more complex if studied closely.

a wonderful and heartrending depiction of Elros and Maglor.

I still chafe at Elrond and Elros calling a Feanorean father. I know, I'm biased and still carrying a grudge! But be that the case, this is still a good story. Maglor did seem quite lost and mad, and Elros's reasons for choosing to be Man worked well in this story.
