This is a nice gapfiller. I always wanted to know what Aragorn and the hobbits would do after Frodo crossed the Ford and fell. I loved Aragorn's interaction with the hobbits. Although they travelled together for so long old resentments flare up. The hobbits stick together and Aragorn gets the brunt of Pippin's desperation. A nice moment for Merry when he takes charge of the situation.

Another exciting tale by Budgie! Aragorn's fear at the beginning is so well done, not knowing what he will find. I love the image of the hobbits helping each other cross the Ford. The sense of panic when they are going to be separated from Frodo is really good, and I like Pippin's attack on Strider. Merry taking charge of the other two hobbits - and Aragorn in a way - is so in his character! I liked how Sam and Pippin snapped to and did what he told them to.

My favorite part of this story was right near the end. Merry, taking charge. When I read the books, I was so impressed with Merry's being on top of everything. I missed that in the movies. It was very nice to see that Merry again in this short story. The descriptions otherwise were quite good and it fleshed out a small part of the story of the trek to Rivendell.

I've read this before, of course, but it still has power. And I still have a sneaking fondness for seeing poor Aragorn catch the rough end of Sam and Pippin's misery! Thank you.

This is a really interesting piece. I especially liked what you did with the relationship between Aragorn and Glorfindel.

Exciting and angsty, as Aragorn leads Sam, Merry and Pippin from the Ford of Bruinen to Rivendell. This author depicts the anguish of Sam and the cousins so well, as they worry for Frodo's very life.

An interesting piece with cleverly done characterisations.
