Well written adventure that does a great job of showcasing some of the perils the elves of the First Age faced. Also, an excellent job of setting up a situation in which an elf doesn't fully recover. We see it done often with Frodo and Sam and others, but sometimes we forget that psychological damage (and darkness in general) would have had just as much effect on the elves. Additionally, I enjoyed this look at a much younger Thranduil. There is so much innocence in this story, and I ache for its loss. You can see the beginnings of that loss throughout the tale, and it's a heartbreaking reminder of the tragedy and bittersweetness that seems to define the elves.
