Summary: The sack of Eregion ripped many families assunder and heralded much death. This is a tale of one family; from evil they ran, straight into sorrow. The prequel to Finding A Way (my other listed tale here). Originally sprung from a bored self who asked a friend to name a place, genre and event for me to write about, an old piece now.

[spoilers] This short piece begins with Celeglin, an elf of Eregion, in the midst of the attack of Sauron's forces on the elf-lands. In the midst of battle, he loses his life and his wife and love, Mithlin, suffers and fades upon learning of his death after she fled to Lorien. Yet, from this grief is born a son, Celeglin named for his father. Elfique sets this scene beautifully for the following sequel [Finding a Way] depicting younger Celeglin's life coming to terms with the events of [From Evil to Sorrow]. The author tells the bone-chilling fear and worries of those caught in the middle of terror and the uncertainty that comes with fleeing to safety but leaving loved ones behind. But from this sorrow, new hope will be born.

[spoilers] Elfique writes a chilling account of the sack of Eregion and the cost of lives that came with it. This use could use some touches of a proof-reader to filter out some grammar mistakes for example, nonetheless, you feel swept away by the action and emotions of this piece: it simply draws you into the story. Then the waiting starts before despair claims another life and it leaves me to wonder what will become of this orphan, now bereft of his parents. This piece is short, but it makes up for its intensity. It is nice to know that there is a sequel. :)
