Summary: A favorite real-life childhood story of mine, 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar,' takes on a hobbity twist. Originally written for Marigold's Tale Challenge 36 in which I had to write a story about any sort of 3rd Anniversary with the following elements: a packet of lembas, a raft, & the Three Farthing Stone.

Oh, I hope Eric Carle would be impressed with this adaptation of his "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" with a definite Shire bent, as we see the caterpillar moving first throughout the Shire, and finally coming into it's own in the White Tree before Strider's Citadel. One wonders how the tale will be added to within Tol Eressea as Frodo and Sam tell it to those Elflings they meet? Very sweet.

This was a very sweet story! I loved the natural progression. Oftentimes this sort of fic just doesn't seem to work but Elemmire really pulls it off and I enjoyed every word! Excellent story, thank you!

I really liked the way that what started as a very simple tale grew as the horizons of the hobbits expanded into the wide world. Cleverly done and enjoyable!

A nice conceit! Taking the Hungry Caterpillar all over Middle Earth would never have occured to me, but this story carries it off very well indeed.

A very cute re-working of a modern children's classic to fit into Middle-earth. The theme is just right for hobbits, and the author makes it into a very hobbity tale.
