Hello,

I would LOVE to nominate boz4PM's amazing fic Don't Panic! and its sequel Okay Now Panic!, but although I have her livejournal address ( http://boz4pm.livejournal.com/profile )and know where to find her stories on FF.NET, I do not have her email address and therefore cannot add her to the list of MEFA authors and therefore cannot nominate her stories! *takes a deep breath*

So, I was wondering if anyone had her email address and could help me out, because Pen-ii and her hilarious adventures really deserve to enter the competition. :-)

'Don't Panic' has already competed as a complete story in 2006, so I don't think it's elegible. 'OK, Now Panic' competed as a WIP in 2006, but I don't *think* it's competed as a complete fic, so it might still be eligible. I'd suggest sending her a PM through her LiveJournal or through ff.net.

Thanks both of you for your help.
I didn't know that a story could only be nominated in the same category once, sorry, I should go back and re-read the fine prints I guess.
And I have already looked for a way to contact her through LJ or FF.net but in one case I need to be a registered user (and I'm not) and in the other the PM function doesn't seem to be available.
Oh well, life shall go on nonetheless, plenty of other good stories to read and review! :-)

I think she has disabled her pm function. So I wrote the following review to chapter 1:

Hello Boz,

I tried to pm you, but I think you have disabled that function.

Someone at the MEFA Awards would like to nominate this story in its completed version. I understand it has competed before as WIP.

Could you, if you are interested send me an e-mail address to be used by a MEFA liason, so I could pass that address on to the intended nominator (or, if that is you prefer, I would love to nominate you myself.) If you are interested, please react ASAP for the deadline is tomorrow.

Since Boz was nominated in a previous year, I was able to dig up her
email address for you. By "I was able to dig up" I mean I emailed our
tech volunteers, and one of them found it in the databses. :-P Very
little "I" involved, actually! Anyway, I have added her to the website
for you, so you should now be able to select boz4pm from the list of
authors.

I would appreciate if you'd mention her LJ address when you nominate
her; there's a "Nominations Notes" section of the form where you can
include such information, and it might help us get in touch with her.

As other people have noted, stories are only eligible once as WIPs and
once again once completed. That means that Don't Panic! isn't eligible
anymore but Okay, NOW Panic! is if it's finished. For a full list of
previously-nominated stories see

So the first story, Don't Panic!, isn't eligible at all anymore. The
second story, Okay NOW Panic!, is eligible again as a completed fic. I
think the confusion is coming from the fact that we're discussing two
different stories?

Hi Marta,
I'll have to check it out, as this is my author. I realize there are 2 stories being discussed, but I *thought* I'd read that the second one was also ineligible, either because it had been finished and nommed before, or that as a WIP it had not been finished.

OK, I can see it's now completed and *did* run as a WIP last time. Question tho, as this recently happened to me - it's listed on her site as having been *completed* in 9/08. I think that's when voting was still going on, so was it supposed to be moved to a finished category, and wasn't?

It ran as a WIP in 2006 - it hasn't run since. She completed it after nomination season was over last year.

Hi Cathleen,

I can't remember when voting ended that year for sure, but 9/08 does
sound like it would have been before voting ended. So technically she
should have gotten in touch with us to say it was finished. In which
case it would have been moved to a subcategory with other finished
stories, and wouldn't be eligible anymore.

That said, I think a lot of people will only read non-WIPs. (I can
personally count the number of WIPs I've reviewed for the MEFAs on one
hand.) If the story had been finished, I would have made a post about
it, informing everyone it was now finished, and so I think there would
have been more potential readers. So I think in this case it should be
allowed to compete, even though technically it was finished while voting
was still going on, because in most of our readers' minds it *WOULD*
have been a WIP.

Bottom line: I think this piece is still eligible.

There seems to be confusion on the dates. As surgeon_ruth said, the story
was completed two years after it competed as a WIP. It competed in 2006 and
was finished in 2008. The author only appears in the 2006 database, she has
never competed in any other year.

It ran as a WIP in 2006 - it hasn't run since. She completed it after nomination season was over last year.
