OT - MSN HOTMAIL HACKED Posted by ravens\_wing14337 October 06, 2009 - 11:50:08 Topic ID# 10208
CBS news is reporting that sometime over the weekend MSN Hotmail was hacked and at least 10,000 accounts were compromised. They are recommending that Hotmail users change their passwords. Their report however is somewhat confusing, as they claim it was done with a "phishing" type method (which usually involves the account holder giving out their information on their own). So heads-up to all those with Hotmail accounts, you might want to check with your provider to see what's going on.

Webpage lotr.fanfictionwriters.com unavailable Posted by Ellin Revenger October 10, 2009 - 5:45:05 Topic ID# 10209
Hello!

While reading stories, I've tried to read Aearwen's "First impressions", but each time I've clicked (in the past 2-3 days), I got the message "The webpage cannot be found". This is the address of the story:

http://lotr.fanfictionwriters.com/Fanfics/viewstory.php?sid=37

So, am I the only one having this problem, or you can't see it too?

Bye,

Ellynn

On their main domain (www.fanfictionwriters.com), there is a note that they
are moving to a different server, so will be down for a while.

TolkienFanFiction down tomorrow night Posted by Marta October 25, 2009 - 20:21:48 Topic ID# 10217
Hey guys,

The website http://www.tolkienfanfiction.com/ will be offline several
hours tomorrow. They are moving to a new server, on 10/27 starting at
22:00 GMT (10 PM GMT); the move should last a few hours.

This effects the MEFAs because several of the stories nominated in this
year's awards are hosted at TFF. If you click on one of those stories'
titles (to open up the webpage to read the story) you will get an error
message.

This is not a MEFA issue (so nothing we can do to fix), and the
volunteers for the site that is affected know that their site will be
down. I'm sure they'll get the site up again as quickly as possible. So
no need to report to anyone that you get an error message. I suggest you
add the story to your wish list at the MEFA website, and just move on to
reading/reviewing other stories hosted at other sites.

Hi Marta,

Thanks for the heads-up; however, the downtime is Tuesday night, not
tomorrow night.

Thanks, Barbara. This weekend has been a bit weird, and I honestly
thought today was Monday (as odd as that sounds!)

She is right: - TFF will be down on Tuesday night, not Monday night. My
apologies for the confusion.

Hey guys,

The archive TolkienFanFiction.com is now back up after being offline for
several hours of scheduled maintenance. You should be able to view
stories posted at this archive now.
