First Votes Will Be Made Public Soon Posted by aure\_enteluva September 16, 2007 - 19:20:25 Topic ID# 8178
Hey guys,

Beginning October 1, reviews will start showing up at our website.
Beginning that day, you will see two new links when you log in to
http://www.mefawards.net/MEFA2007/:

**************************
Read Reviews
Read Reviews already written and scored.

Read Reviews By Reviewer
Read Reviews already written and scored, with a filter for
Reviewers. Defaults to reading your own reviews.
**************************

Clicking on either link will show you any final reviews already
entered into the website. And there have been quite a few already
entered. We'll display newly-entered final reviews once a week, until
the end of voting on December 30.

Why am I telling you all of this? First, because it's exciting, and I
know many of you who are authors are looking forward to seeing your
reviews? Also, if you've entered any final reviews they'll be
displayed beginning October 1. If you don't want this to happen, I
suggest you change their status from draft to hidden; that way it will
still count even if you don't do anything more to the review, but you
can still edit it through December 30.

You won't be able to edit final reviews after October 1. If you make
an actual mistake like you enter a review for the wrong story or
forget to mark off a quote, you can email the following to
mefasupport(at)gmail(dot)com:

- your name
- the ID # of the story (or the title of the story if you don't know
the ID #)
- what you would like the review to read

If you email me this information before December 30, I'll change it
for you. However, I'll only do this if there's a mistake that needs
correcting. If you just want to make your review longer, I won't do
this. If you think you'll want to edit a final review, make sure you
change its status from Final to either Draft or Hidden BEFORE OCTOBER
1. (I recommend hidden in most cases; if you change it to draft,
you'll need to change it back to hidden or final before December 30
for it to count.)

Also: I will need a volunteer who will have fairly regular internet
access between now and the end of the awards. This person will be
posting reviews to this group as they are made available on the
website. It would take maybe 10-15 minutes a day, if that.

I hope you are all having fun reviewing! If you have any questions or
need help, please feel free to ask.

Marta

Errata Posted by aure\_enteluva September 18, 2007 - 13:31:55 Topic ID# 8179
I want to clear up two things.

FIRST....

I mis-spoke in my announcement yesterday. I said reviews would be
released in weekly batches. I misunderstood how the website released
reviews. Here's what will happen.

*******
1. All final reviews entered before Oct. 1 will be visible beginning
Oct. 1.

2. All final reviews entered between Oct. 1 and Dec. 30 (or
hidden/draft reviews converted into final reviews in this period) will
be visible immediately when they are submitted (or their status changed).

3. All hidden reviews will be made visible on December 30.
*******

So.... long story short, final reviews are visible as soon as they're
submitted, beginning October 1.

Btw, I'm still looking for a volunteer who can post reviews to this
group. If you're interested, email mefasupport@gmail.com.

... ALSO ....

several weeks ago there was a discussion over at the mefa-discussion
Yahoo group about characters, settings, and time periods that were
only attached to many stories. If two items linked to only a few
stories were similar we decided to merge them into one item. This
means that if you are using our website to find stories to review, the
lists of characters, settings, and time periods will get shorter and
each option will bring up more entries.

The problem is, I never got around to actually combining things at the
website. I'll do that later this afternoon. So the lists of
characters, settings, and time periods/events will get shorter. If you
have any problems using the new lists, please just ask.

That's all. Have fun reviewing!

Reviews Now Available Posted by aure\_enteluva September 30, 2007 - 23:32:16 Topic ID# 8180
Hey guys,

As many of you may have noticed, reviews are now visible at our
website. Go to http://www.mefawards.net/MEFA2007/ and log in. Or if
you don't have a password, click on "log in as guest". Once logged in,
click the "Read Reviews" link, and you'll see all of the final reviews
that have been entered. That's 930 reviews available for your browsing
privilege, at the time I'm writing this email.

There's been some confusion on whether you can still enter reviews.
The answer is YES. Reviewing is absolutely allowed until these awards
end on DECEMBER 30. The only difference is that you'll no longer be
able to *edit* final reviews. You can enter new reviews, and edit the
draft and hidden ones. I hope everyone will continue to do that.

Annmarwalk has volunteered to post the reviews to the MEFAwards Yahoo
group. (LJ folks, she'll be giving you guys links to the Yahoo posts
where the reviews are posted, so you won't miss out.) She'll be
posting 50 or so reviews a day until we're caught up. This means that
for a while, the reviews she posts every day won't be the ones posted
on that day. In the past people have been confused by that. We stagger
posting the reviews so people don't come home to 900 reviews in their
inbox. If you want to see the most recent reviews you can find them at
the website.

Authors: While it is by no means required, sometimes authors have
wanted to email their reviewers to thank them for their comments.
You'll notice that members' emails are not visible on our webpage. If
you would like to send an email to a reviewer, please email it to
mefasupport(at)gmail(dot)com, and I will forward it along to the
reviewer (along with your email address in case they choose to reply
back). Of course, if you know the reviewer's email address, feel free
to email them on your own.

Occasionally you may find a review that you think needs correcting for
some reason. Sometimes a review is accidentally entered for the wrong
story, or it does not follow the award rules (for instance, quotes are
not blocked off.) Other times, the reviewer composes reviews in a word
processor and just made a mistake coopying and pasting into the review
form. If a review seems off, email mefasupport(at)gmail(dot)com to
discuss it.

I think that's it! Happy reviewing guys!
