ADMIN: Banners – where to get them and a call for artists/customiz Posted by Tanaqui December 13, 2009 - 3:57:54 Topic ID# 10261Hey guys,
As we approach the end of the 2009 MEFAs, I wanted to talk about the
different banners you can use as a participant in the MEFAs and where to
get them.
I also want to appeal to any artists out there who would like to add to
our stock of banners, and who may be willing to customize banners for
winners during January.
Banner Makers and Customizers
-----------------------------
First of all, I'd like to thank all the volunteers who helped bring you
the wonderful selection of MEFA banners and buttons we have available so
far this year. Banners were created by Cactuskim, Elea24, Elena Tiriel,
Elleth, Nath, Nieriel Raina, red lasbelin and Viv. There work was
coordinated by Nieriel Raina. A big thank you to all of them for
allowing us to have such a great choice of banners.
If anyone would like to create more banners, please let us know by
emailing us at mefasupport at mefawards dot net. This is so we can
credit you on our website, and so we have your email address so we can
get in touch if need be. Banners uploaded before we are contacted by the
banner-maker may be deleted.
The banner makers listed above are welcome to upload Winners' versions
of banners they've already created, as well as any new banners, to the
photobucket album at http://www.photobucket.com/mefa09w, password: aelfwine
We're also looking for volunteers to customize Winners' banners: as you
may notice the banners in the photobucket albums currently just say MEFA
or Middle-earth Fanfiction Awards and the year. This is where you can
help. When an author wins, if they'd like their banner customized and
aren't able to do it themselves, they will be asked to comment to a post
at our mefas livejournal with what banner they'd like to use. A
volunteer will customize the banner for them. We could always use more
volunteers - that means less work for everyone involved. Basically you
would be adding the place and category/subcategory to banners and
getting them out to grateful authors. If this sounds like something
you'd like to be involved in, please email us at mefasupport at
mefawards dot net and we'll send you more information.
Banners for participants
------------------------
Now, on to the banners! There are three kinds:
---Nominee Banners can be used by any nominated author and can be
displayed on any story nominated in this year's awards. You're welcome
to use as many different banners as you have stories nominated we hope
that you can find a banner that matches your story from the selection
we've provided.
---Reviewer Banners can be downloaded and can be displayed by any
reviewer who set a Review Target (aka MEFA Junkie target) and reached
it. Again, we have a wide range of Review Banners, so we hope you can
find one you like. The list of reviewers who have achieved MEFA Junkie
status by reaching their target number of reviews can be seen at
http://www.mefawards.net/MEFA2009/index.php?page=FAQjunkie#jun_7
---Story Winner Banners can be used by authors whose stories win an
award (first, second or third place or honorable mention) in this year's
MEFA awards and can be displayed on the winning story. Once the results
of this year's awards have been announced on 3 January, winning authors
will be able to get the Story Winner Banner of their choice customized
with the name of the award they have won. (We'll provide more details
about this after 3 January.) We also hope to have a set of banners that
already include the subcategory and place that you can use immediately.
(Oh, there's also a fourth kind of banner: for MEFA Volunteers. If
you're one of this year's Volunteers and you haven't yet got a Volunteer
banner and would like one, please email us at mefasupport at mefawards
dot net and we'll help you sort out getting one.)
All of this year's banners can be seen at the MEFA photobucket sites:
* banners for nominees: http://www.photobucket.com/mefa09n, password:
celebrimbor
* banners for reviewers: http://www.photobucket.com/mefa09r, password:
daeron
* banners for story winners: http://www.photobucket.com/mefa09w,
password: aelfwine
You may download the banners or use them from the photobucket pages,
whichever you prefer.
There's more information in our Banners FAQ at
http://www.mefawards.net/MEFA2009/index.php?page=FAQbanners but I think
that covers just about everything that needs to be said about banners
for now. Remember that there's just over two weeks of reviewing time
left in this year's awards, so why not reward a good story with a vote
and a review today?
Happy Reviewing!
