Authors and nominators and friends and whoever else:

The question was posed to me privately of whether or not we should let
authors put up nominee buttons now. The Mithrils, I believe, don't, as they
don't want solicitations of votes. We do have somewhat of the same
concern. We don't want solicitations of votes for *your* story or stories.
We want you to encourage people to sign up and participate in the whole
contest. Frankly, if we see anyone who votes on just one story or just the
stories of one author, we're going to be suspicious of vote-stacking, which
if you look at the FAQ is against the tules and cause dor disqualifications.

So, yes, authors can put the buttons up now, but they should link to the
main page of the MEFAs, and if anyone is soliciationg votes, they should be
solicitating overall participation.

This is the relevant part of the FAQ:

V.D. Disqualification reasons
2. d. Authors encouraging vote stacking (by bringing in
new members who
only vote on their entries) will be disqualified
from the Author
categories and have their stories and poems
disqualified as well.
3. Authors
a. Violation of V.A.2 will cause offender to be
disqualified for
Author awards
b. Authors encouraging vote stacking (by bringing in
new members who
only vote on their entries) will be disqualified
